Hitachi was established in Europe in 1972 at Oosterhout in The Netherlands and in 2019 celebrated the supply of its 300,000th excavator. Here in the UK Hitachi excavators were originally supplied by Beazer Plant Sales which turned into BM Plant and then HM Plant which then was bought out by Hitachi and became a wholly owned subsidiary in 2007. It moved from Bridgwater, Somerset to Hebburn, South Tyneside to make use of the existing shipping movements from Amsterdam to the UK.
Hitachi are probably in the top 3 of worldwide excavator manufacturers and in 2019 Yanmar engines reached the 10 million units mark, you could say that they are a perfect partnership with both manufacturers being leaders in their field.
