PES have recently sold a modified Thwaites 3 tonne dumper to Eurotank Installations Ltd, part of the Eurotank Service Group which has all the different aspects to provide all the fuel system services a fuelling facility needs.
As the preferred supplier to Eurotank, PES supply all their Volvo excavators and Thwaites dumper for use all over the UK and provide a comprehensive testing and servicing regime to ensure their equipment is safe to use in the dangerous atmosphere that surrounds fuel, whether it be in refineries or in a petrol station.
Pictured is one of the modifications that has been carried out on the Thwaites dumper, this being an automatic shutdown of the engine in the event of an engine overspeed should the fumes from the storage tanks be ingested into the engine causing it rev out of control. By inserting this Chalwyn valve into the air intake system, should the engine start to rev higher than a preset maximum amount, an internal butterfly valve closes shutting the air intake off and therefore shutting the engine down.
