So far 2023 has been a very busy year for Yanmar 3TNV70 engines to go into John Deere Gator UTV’s for PES with over 23 units sold in the first 3 months. The Yanmar 3TNV70-AJUV and the Yanmar 3TNV70-BJUV are fitted to John Deere 850D and John Deere Gator 855D which must be one of the most popular UTV’s in the UK, especially in the agricultural industry.

Today we sold the last one we had in stock which, due to the long lead times with just about anything you want to buy, means we are out of stock until the next batch arrive. The good news is that we have over 20 Yanmar 3TNV70’s on order, the bad news is we are not sure when we are going to receive them. I’m not sure whether the John Deere dealer network has any Yanmar 3TNV70-AJUV in stock but at over twice the price at what PES sell them it’s going to hurt if yours go bang. If your Gator engine is just a bit tired and poorly but still works, treat it like a new born baby and look after it, checking that oil and water daily and don’t thrash it to within an inch of it’s life!!!

The Yanmar 3TNV70 is a 3 cylinder, 0.854 litre engine producing 17kW@3600rpm and with its flat torque curve is used in a variety of applications such as excavators and generators as well as the John Deere Gator. Block stiffening has reduced noise and vibration levels and the in-line fuel pump caters for load changes as rapidly and smoothly as possible making the Yanmar 3TNV70 the ideal engine for the John Deere Gator range.

Top tip for not having to ring PES for a new Yanmar 3TNV70??? Check that oil and water every day before you start it as the number of people who buy a new engine from PES because they have a big hole in the side of the cylinder block or its seized solid and state that nobody had checked the oil and water on it for months is unbelievable. I suppose we are all used to getting in our car where it tells us that the coolant or oil level is low meaning that we have got out the habit of what we would call ‘good old fashioned daily checks’. Those checks however, meant that we you didn’t have to buy a new Yanmar 3TNV70!!!!
