Laura has sold the first ever new Thwaites T450 in the UK to Buckland Newton Hire Ltd (BNH) near Dorchester. The Thwaites T450 is a new 4500kg capacity, swivel skip, hydrostatic drive dumper which meets and exceeds all the current emission and safety requirements and is designed to straddle the site work of the smaller Thwaites 3 tonne site dumper and the muck shifting of Thwaites 6 tonne dumper.
BNH was founded in 1979 and although based in Dorset, serve the counties of Somerset, Wiltshire and Hampshire with their fleet over 80 modern, up to date Thwaites dumpers, Caterpillar excavators, rollers and telehandlers. As well as plant hire BNH undertake professional waste disposal, large skip from 15-30 yard capacity and supply and deliver aggregates by bulk in 16 or 20 tonne loads or collected loose in the yard from 1 tonne. The Thwaites T450 was the last of a package of Thwaites dumpers purchased by BNH for their new Corfe Mullen depot and arrived just in the nick of time as it was going straight out on hire.
Although not a consideration for BNH, the Thwaites T450 is powered by a stage 5 Yanmar 3TNV86CHT with DPF filter meaning it meets the emission levels to work in inner city areas, an ever-increasing requirement by contractors whom wish to work in these emission sensitive areas.
A major purchasing decision for BNH was the Thwaites hydrostatic drive system, its smooth 2-speed operation replacing the tradition torque convertor gearbox with the gearstick operated 4 gears. With the Yanmar engine driving the hydrostatic drive via a column mounted electronic lever, smooth operation is achieved with precise manoeuvring via the inching facility on the brake pedal.
As with all Thwaites dumpers, safety is paramount and the new rear access with multiple grab rails and flexible steps means the access via the crush zone is eliminated. BNH recognise quality and the importance of back-up to keep their customers happy, that’s why they continue to invest In Thwaites dumpers and can see the potential of the new Thwaites T450 dumper and therefore are the first UK customer to purchase one.
