Thanks to the Houthi launching missiles at shipping in the Red Sea there has been delays in the delivery of Yanmar TNV and Yanmar L series engines arriving in the UK. There was a brief window of opportunity during the Olympics as the Houthi team was in Paris but as soon as they realised shooting and sailing were two different events they left early and are back menacing the Red Sea shipping.
As the largest supplier of Yanmar TNV in the UK, PES are reliant on deliveries from Japan and our normal flow of engines has been disrupted. This, coinciding with certain models selling out quickly, has resulted in delays to delivery. For instance, we had a real run of Yanmar 3TNM74F engines fitted into Kawasaki Mule Utility vehicles which resulted in us being out of stock. With ten Yanmar 3TNM74F engines on order it has resulted in all ten engines being sold before they arrive. No need to panic though as in another 3 weeks another 12 are arriving!!!
In an ideal world we would buy all our Yanmar TNV engines at the beginning of the year but we simply don’t have enough storage room and therefore we have a constant stream of orders coming in. With between 150 and 200 Yanmar TNV engines coming and going each year and a 3 month lead time from point of order to arrival it takes a bit of control and a sudden rush on one model can mean we run out. In August we have the following engines arrive.
Yanmar 3TNM74F 10 (Kawasaki Mule)
3TNV88 11 (Thwaites dumper, Takeuchi excavator)
4TNV88 1 (Takeuchi excavator, Hitachi excavator)
4TNV98 2 (Takeuchi excavator, Volvo excavator)
3TNV88C 1 (Generic spec, multi applications)
4TNV98CT 1 (Generic spec, Multi applications)
3TNV82A 2 (Takeuchi excavator, Wacker Neuson excavator)
L70V 2 (Cormidi dumpers)
